To install a heavy duty washing line pole, you will need to follow these steps:
-
Mark the location where you want to install the poles. Make sure the area is level and free of obstacles.
-
Dig holes for the poles at the marked locations- usually with a post-holing tool although a standard spade is fine. The holes should be at least 50 centimetres deep and approx 30 centimetres in diameter.
-
Insert the poles into the holes. Make sure they are level and straight- use a temporary prop and clamp to hold. If using a socket, apply the same method to install the socket - or as a tip, insert the pole to give an easier visual check of levels.
-
Use concrete to fill the holes around the poles. Allow the concrete to dry and cure for at least 24 hours. We recommend using Postcrete for a fast-setting solution.
-
Once the concrete is dry, you can install the washing line between the poles. Make sure the line is secure. Do not over tighten to stress the poles- a line prop can be used if loads are too heavy or distance between poles is large.
